From December 2011 comprehensive RAC breakdown cover will be automatically included in the Group Insurance Scheme at an additional cost of £1.55 per month which equates to £18.60 per year.
The extremely favourable rate has been specially negotiated by the Federation Joint Branch Board.
The Breakdown cover includes:
- Roadside recovery anywhere in the UK 24/7
- Recovery of the vehicle and up to 8 people to a single address anywhere in the UK
- Home cover if your vehicle won't start at home and
- Onward Travel which includes a replacement car for up to two days while your car is being fixed or overnight accommodation or alternative transport.
- Motorcycles, and Caravans up to 7.6 metres in length are included in the cover
Family cover includes:
- You and
- Your partner and
- Any immediate family members that live at your address (this includes your children or parents if they live with you and are being driven by someone not resident with you)
- In any vehicle that you, your partner, and your immediate family are driving in or are passengers in.
The annual cost of this type of RAC cover if purchased as an individual, with on line discounts, is over £200 per year. The cover being offered is thought to be the best comprehensive cover on the market.
All officers who subscribe to the scheme will be issued with a membership card with a dedicated free telephone number to call. Only Lancashire Police officers and their families will be able to use this number.

To join, to add partner cover or to upgrade your Group Insurance cover, complete the form below entitled "New Members Application Form" and return it to the Federation Office for processing.
If you would like to apply for a top up to your Group Insurance for either you or your partner, you should complete and return the following forms to the Federation Office for Processing, "Group Insurance - Late Entrant Declaration" (if it is for yourself) or if the top up is for your partner then they should complete the "Group Insurance - Late Entrant Declaration/Spouse". Along with either of these forms you should also complete the "Group Insurance Top Up" form.
Please note :- The person who is insured cannot be the beneficiary named on the form. The person named as beneficiary is the person who would receive the money in the event of the insured's death.
